About the author:

This composition is a Hindi Khandakavya (a long poem) written by Pt. Anurag Upadhyay. At present, he is a student, and due to his keen interest in writing, he continues to create poetic works.

He has written several poems such as Kurukshetra Ranakshetra, Guru, Abhyas, Shakti Sadhana, and many more. His writing style reflects the influence of Ojas Dhara (a powerful and energetic poetic stream). Some of his works have also been published in newspapers.

As his first Khandakavya, Anurag Upadhyay presents Chanakya Charitavali.

Q1:  What inspired you to write Chanakya Charitavali?

Answer:- A Tv. Serial ‘Chandragupta maurya’ in which the actor Manish Bajwa’s amazing role of  chanakya inspired me to study the character of chankya , at same time when I tried to study the contribution or role of chankya in Indian history and studied the writer like fahiyaan, I felt connected with the sacrifice of acharya Chanakya and his disciple Chandragupta Maurya .

Q2:  How did your background and interest in history lead you to Chanakya’s life?

Answer: after reading his book chanakya niti and kautilya arthashashtra. I started to read the history of chanakya and mauryan empire.

Q3:  Why do you think Chanakya continues to fascinate readers even today?

Answer: Yes ,it is very interesting question.  India is the country where knowledge is seen as a boon . acharya chanakya was the person who had a great holding on economics, politics, maths and administration. Also he started a moment against inhumane. 

Q4:  What challenges did you face while researching and compiling this book?

Answer: I faced the challenge of authenticity , the history of chanakya is quite controvertial and the evidences in written format are not much available. Thats why I took such a time to write.

I also took help from internet with my written sources.

Q5:  Did you discover any lesser-known facts about Chanakya that surprised you?

Answer: Yes , I discovered lot of lessons but the main lesson was that, nothing is more important than our native country. We must live for our( matribhoomi)country.

Q6:  How does your book portray Chanakya—as a strategist, philosopher, or teacher?

Answer: Mainly (revolutionary) teacher, but all the shadows of chanakya’s character , reader will find in the book.

Q7:  What qualities of Chanakya do you think modern readers can learn from most?

Answer:1.swadhyay(reding)

             2.patriotism

             3.sacrifice

            4.think and live for nation

            5. responsible duety (kartavya karma)

           6.dharma nirvahan       

Q8:  The book highlights Chanakya’s political and moral wisdom. Which of these do you feel is more relevant today?

Answer: Both. Balance in political and moral wisdom gives the fruitful outcomes.

Q9:  How did you balance historical accuracy with storytelling while writing?

Answer: actually it is a poetry. I thought it is just normal to maintain such a balance for the poets.

Q10:  Which part of Chanakya’s life story do you personally find the most inspiring?

Answer: At the time the way he trained Chandragupta I inspired much than other because I am also a student . I feel connected much. So, I like that part.
