Questionnaires:
Neel Preet: Firstly, Congratulations on your book, “Downpour, It Was!” What responses are you getting from this book of yours? Please share your experience about this book.
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: Thank you so much. The responses are overwhelming, warm and desiring. People are loving it, matter of fact I have been receiving lot of texts and phone calls regarding how portrayal of the emotions have never been more accurate. Recently nothing occupies me more than it.
Neel Preet: Your book is a wonderful collection of “Emotional & Inspirational Poems” so what inspired you to write these poems?
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: I love writing and narrating stories in the form of verses. The literary world today has evolved to tell stories in mere words. We have been losing the essence of ways of conveying them. The way Shakespeare wrote ballads and sonnets, I wanted to bring back all classic ways of connecting to people through words. Apart from full length fictional novels, non-fictions etc. I want to promote this particular form of writing that is verse novel. Thus, it proved as an inspiration to me to take up that responsibility.
Neel Preet: You’ve given a very interesting title to your book, which is very catchy too so, what made you go for this title for your book?
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: Downpour, it was is a metaphor linking to naked emotions that the protagonist feels and the series of events that occur. This title is basically a piece of what truly lies inside the book. Nothing seemed more apt than this.
Neel Preet: What was your mind-set, while working on this book? What was the impetus behind this work of yours?
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: As already mentioned, my mindset was to evolve the literary world as it is today. It is a declaration and a war cry that even amidst the domination of general fictions thrillers and mysteries, there could be a verse novel (a poetry in motion) for true heartfelt emotions. Taking about the plot, while creating an intriguing story and a natural phenomenon of life, I wanted to prove an elegant way of portraying a drama in to a poetic way.
Neel Preet: Well, after reading your amazing poems, my next question to you is that what keeps you fuelled to carry on your writing journey?
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: The search for a newer way to display emotions is one of the very reasons why I write. I write metaphorically, the way you can link the love between lotus and water, as mentioned in the book, to human emotions. They display the truest form of love that could be felt by a human. Writing in this form heals me from within and lets me know that I am not constricted to generalised way of displaying any emotion. This in turn is my meditating power. Thus, I would rather say that my writing fuels my journey of life.
Neel Preet: While reading your book, I found that your poems had some really strong emotions and stories inside them, which had greatly impressed me and thus, I would like you to explain the overall theme of your book!
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: The book is based on romance genre and tragedy. It involves deep description of love, happiness and sorrow along with the unexpected thrills and suspense. But a book is always more than what genre it is, thus this book is something that would make you feel all these emotions the way it was felt by the protagonist.
Neel Preet: Your writing seemed to be impeccable and you were bold with your poems in your book, which I really appreciate. Therefore, I want you to tell us about some of those writers, who had inspired you and whom you follow!
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: I was greatly inspired by William Wordsworth when I was 10. His way of words enlightened me. He not only captured emotions rhyme schemes and the plot stance, but his way of writing would let you synchronise with the way he took breath whilst writing as and when you are reading them aloud. That shows how deep the connection is he created with the readers. And I have a deep affection to such way of writing.
Neel Preet: Is there any message which you would like to convey to your readers? Or any piece of advice, which you would like to give to the readers out there!
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: Writing your heart out Is the strongest power one could have, and a pen is the strongest tool one could have. If you are hesitant about writing something then that something should be written. Never back down from writing what you truly feel. This is one advice I feel every author or writer need to hear to understand the strength in words.
Neel Preet: Are there any other books being worked by you? Please let us know about your future projects.
Dr. Sagarika Jamadade: Yes, there are books I am working upon. Looking forward to complete them sooner. I won’t let you guys run out of new books!
Neel Preet: Thank you so much for answering all my questions. All the very best to you for future and your book too!
