The NAACP national convention will be held in Boston later this month, the White House said on Thursday. Vice President Kamala Harris will be attending.
Harris “will maintain her whirlwind travel across the country in July and August,” according to a statement from the White House, making stops in Florida, Illinois, and Indiana in addition to her trip to Massachusetts.
On July 29, the vice president will be in Boston, as per the release.
The NAACP national conference is slated to take place in South Boston from July 26 to August 1 and is expected to generate more than $10 million in economic impact.
The convention, the 114th edition, is for members of the historic civil rights organization and the Black community at large. But what about everyone else?
In 1911 and again in 2020, Boston was chosen to host the conference, but the 2020 in-person convention was abandoned and transferred online.
Two times before, in 1911 and 2020, Boston was selected to host the conference. However, the 2020 in-person convention was abandoned and transferred online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
