Interview with Ramesh Kumar Sinha

The Asian Literature: Welcome to The Asian Literature, author. Congratulations on the release of your book. What responses are you getting from your readers? Please share your experience with this book.

Author: I am getting very lukewarm response from readers. From my friends circle only one has said he has ordered. As I  have not seen the dashboard I am not in a position to no the order position.

The Asian Literature: What encourages you to become an Author?

Author: I just see some photograph or picture of some place or people or an idea from some TV serial, keep them in my mind and in my spare time I pick up that small idea and start writing something keeping in mind the target audience. Sometimes, it converges in to a story with meaningful end.

I edit and re edit them to finish into a readable material.

In today’s world there are plenty of material on social media, TV and OTT channels and people have lost reading habit. So, even if my books go on the hands of a serious book reader, I will be happy.

I have lots of spare time and a good part of the spare time I spend in writing.

The Asian Literature: What are your favorite topics of writing? Please tell us something about your interest areas in the literature.

Author: Love/Romance

Mistry/crime

Short stories based on my past experiences.

Corporate life.

The Asian Literature: We were hoping you could tell us about some of those writers who had inspired you and whom you follow!

Author: Not exactly any particular writer. Maybe Mohan Rakesh is on such writer. I am also inspired by children story writer. Some time old TV serials of 1980s  also touched me.

The Asian Literature: The titles seem different and catchy; how you decided it? Please let us know the story behind it.

Author: The title has to relate to the main story but at the same time it should be catchy. Title and front cover page play important roles in attracting the prospective readers. Prospective readers may be those who regularly visit book shops or library of book fairs and are avid reader.

The Asian Literature: What are your achievements so far? Tell us something about your writing career.

Author: Mall road is my second book.

I have also written short stories in the periodicals which are published in my residential society.

The Asian Literature: What is your current goal in writing a career? How do you see your future in writing?

Author: I will like to publish 3/4 books at least over a year.

I spent roughly about two hours daily. I see a good future.

The Asian Literature: Are there any other books being worked by you? Please let us know about your future projects.

Author: Currently I am working on few projects. They are in different stages. I will not be able to elaborate as of now.

The Asian Literature: How you see Indian writing in the 21st century? What changes do you see in the modern way of writing? Do you feel it has been changed by the time?

Author: In today’s world of TV channels, OTT channels or podcast, the study of books has taken a back seat. There are so many different types and sources of entertainment, either viewing or listening. Against this background I don’t see a very optimistic future of book writing. But at the same time there are groups of people  emerging who are taking writing and reading books as a new past time. This is obvious from the fact the in public libraries number of people are rising.

Publication agencies have a role to play here. They have to promote not only a particular author (under contract) but inculcate inculcate habit of reading. Book fairs which are organized almost in every town at least once a year have a role in building reading habit.

The Asian Literature: How easy/ difficult it was for you to publish your book? What message would you like to give to budding authors?

Author: If they want to publish their books they should catch hold of any, I repeat, any publisher and go with them. See how is the outcome. Don’t focus on royalty right in the beginning. Do a good job, a bit different from others, discuss with your like minded friends and relatives. This will help in the long run.
